It's finally December, and you know what that means: Christmas is officially just around the corner. And there's no doubt that you've already started thinking about what to get your loved ones this holiday season.
Of course, choosing the perfect present for someone isn't an easy task. A boring old pair of socks just won't cut it anymore, so you're going to have to think out of the box this time around.
You can never go wrong by getting a member of your family a nice gadget for Christmas, especially a smartphone. Whether it be your partner, child or sibling, everyone loves a trusty mobile phone.
Depending on how much you'd want to spend, you'll find a variety of amazing smartphones on the internet - along with some great deals. We're not going to let you break a sweat doing that, though - here's our guide.
Apple iPhone X
One of the top handsets this year is Apple's iPhone X. It comes with a blistering 5.8-inch OLED full-surface display, an A11 Bionic chip, a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera and the recently unveiled Face ID biometric system.
It's not a cheap phone, though. Apple is flogging the phone for a staggering £999, but you can get some pretty decent deals if you look around carefully.
Online retailer mobilephones.co.uk is offering the handset for £50 upfront and £56 monthly, giving you 26GB of data allowance.
Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
If you don't want to spend as much, then the iPhone 8 is a pretty good option. Although you don't get FaceID or a full-surface display, it has the same all-design glass and internal features. Virgin is selling it for £29 per month with no upfront cost.
Samsung Galaxy S8
Obviously, not everyone is an Apple fan. And if you identify with this claim, then it's worth looking at Android phones instead. Samsung is, without a doubt, Apple's biggest competitor. The Galaxy S8 is pitted against the iPhone, for sure.
Spec-wise, it's one of the best handsets on the market right now. It features a 5.8-inch 1440x2960 display, a 12-megapixel camera, 4GB of RAM and a beefy 3,000mAh battery.
EE is offering the phone for £62.99 per month with an up front cost of £9.99, giving you 40GB of data on a 24-month plan. You get free Galaxy VR gadgets as well.
Google Pixel 2
American tech giant Google has become a leading mobile phone maker too, and the Pixel 2 is its latest offering. It sports a 5-inch display, 4GB of RAM, a 12.2-megapixel camera and Android 8.0 running out of the box.
Again, EE is working hard to get your attention and has an amazing deal on the handset. For £63.99 per month and £9.99 upfront, you get 40GB of data on a 24-month plan. You're also given a free Google Home system, which costs £129.99 separately.
Other EE deals
The mobile phone network has some other impressive deals, too. You can get the Alcatel U5 for £59.99 or LG K4 2017 edition for £79.99, giving you a £10 top-up. If you choose one of these deals, you can get Beats EP earphones for just £50.
