KINGSTON HAS launched a new PCIe SSD device to bolster its range of solid state internal flash drives.
Kingston Digital Europe has announced the KC1000, offering an M.2 NVMe PCIe interface which it claims is over twice as fast as a SATA based SSD and over 40x faster than a 7200RPM platter drive.

Offering 290,000 IOPS, the drive will be available is 240GB, 480GB and 960GB from mid-June, supporting PCIe Gen3 x4 and NVMe.
The MLC NAND powered drive has a Phison PS5007-E7 interface, with a maximum 4K read/write speed of 290,000/190,000 but powers out at an average of just .99W
Kingston offers a very honest analysis which points out that these are "out of the box" speeds that do decline with time, use and according to external factors like operating system, other components and so on.
With a Minimum Time Between Failure (MTBF) of two million hours, and a five year warranty including technical support, the KC1000 is aimed at high resolution video editing, CAD, VR, AR, gaming and real time analytics.
All three capacities will be available as stand alone units or with an add-in card.
