The Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England, is hiring a director of digital, to oversee the delivery of the information management and technology strategy.
The candidate will be a deputy to chief digital officer (CDO), Peter Sinden, who was named CDO of both CQC and NHS Improvement back in December 2016, and began his role in January.
The director of digital will be helping with the organisation's ‘Shaping the Future' strategy which it published last year. The strategy sets out CQC's ambition for a more targeted, responsive and collaborative approach to regulation.
The director of digital's role will be to ensure the CQC can use technology effectively to improve its approach to regulation.
The job advert states that a credible candidate must have taken an organisation through a transformation encompassing Agile development methodologies and DevOps. They must also be effective at building teams and managing change, and must have a strong understanding of financial and commercial and contract management.
In addition, the new director has to have excellent leadership skills to manage deliver within a distributed team, and to work with stakeholders across the business to embed new ways of managing delivery at pace.
The role is for a 12 to 18 month fixed-term contract and while the CQC is flexible in regards to location, the director of digital will be required to be in London and Newcastle regularly.
Although the salary is not disclosed in the job advert, it is only searchable within the £80,000 to £100,000 salary bracket.
