As the US slides into tyranny under the bizarre, wild, erratic leadership of president Donald Trump, overseen by Stephen Bannon of course, V3 has been feeling somewhat concerned for the future.
So much so, in fact, that conversation in the office turned to the technology you'd want to have on hand when civil society collapses and we're forced to scavenge for scraps of food and huddle around burning bins in fingerless gloves.
We're sure there's more, and perhaps you don't want to tell us for fear of supplies running low, but if you think we're missing anything that will ease life once the US goes completely to hell.Solar powered mobile phone charger
There might not be any sun come the End Times, but if there is, a solar-powered phone charger would definitely be worth having in your ‘go-bag'. There are plenty out there, and while they're not the most elegant looking things, their size and bulk may make them handy for battering mutants lopping through your encampment.
No need to worry about the end of mobile phone networks with a pair of walkie-talkies, although remember they don't work over super long distances so if you decide "split up to cover more ground", you may lose one another for ever.
Lots of batteries
A quick trip to Poundland to stock up on AA batteries in the coming weeks may not be the worst idea if you're hoping to use things like torches, walkie-talkies and so on during the Dark Times.
Long-life mobile phone
If mobile phone networks do survive, you can't guarantee you'll have easy access to power, especially if the Delta Warriors in quadrant 4 come a-raiding. So you'll want to make those trips to Power Valley as infrequently as possible. As such, a long-life mobile phone, like the Nokia 3310, would be worth having, rather than say a power hungry iPhone 7.
All the USB adaptors
You never know when you might find a handy piece of kit in the camp of some survivors who didn't make the winter. It would be annoying then if you discovered you needed a micro USB adaptor but only had a mini-USB. So make sure you have one of those multi-USB adaptors.
A voice assistant to keep you company
It'll be lonely scavenging deserted cities for food and warmth, so make sure you've a voice assistant handy for those long nuclear winter nights.
"Alexa, what are radiation readings for London?"
"Alexa, how many mutants remain active in Sector 14?"
"Alexa, remind me what hot food tasted like."
A virtual reality headset
This may seem frivolous but it might be nice when huddling in the shelled out remains of a Nando's to be able to slip away to remember how the world looked before The Happenings.
