Lenovo has updated its flagship ThinkPad X1 Carbon laptop with a raft of new features including an improved processor and better battery life.
Not only is the new fifth-generation ThinkPad X1 Carbon lighter than its 1.22kg predecessor at 1.13kg, it also squeezes a 14in display into a 13in chassis. It's been given a makeover under the hood too, with the new model packing Intel Kaby Lake internals and a Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE modem.
Lenovo has also been keen to talk-up the ThinkPad X1 Carbon's improved 15-hour battery life, newly-added USB-C ports and enhanced security features, which includes a fingerprint sensor with a dedicated chip and support for Windows Hello.
The new and improved Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon, which is launching in an all-new Silver model, will be available in the US next month starting at $1,349. It's also coming to the UK, CES: Lenovo unveils ThinkPad X1 Carbon but Lenovo has yet to confirm how much it will cost.
Lenovo's flexible ThinkPad X1 Yoga, which it's still touting as the first laptop to pack a 14in OLED display, has been updated to include a new processor, Microsoft Precision Trackpad and a redesigned rechargeable pen and improved " rise and fall" keyboard, while the ThinkPad X1 Tablet been given a boost in the battery life department.
Keen to make its mark on this year's CES, Lenovo has also rebranded its gaming line to 'Legion'. To mark the occasion, Lenovo has outed the Legion Y720 (below) and Y520 laptops, VR-ready devices measuring in at 17in and 15in, respectively, that pack 7th-gen Intel Core processors, 16GB DDR4 memory and Thunderbolt 3. Both laptops run Windows 10.
The flagship Y720 offers an IPS display with a resolution up to 3,840,2160 and Nvidia graphics up to the current GeForce 1060, alongside an optional RGB keyboard and integrated Xbox One wireless receiver that offers support for up to four controllers. The smaller Legion Y520 features Nvidia graphics up to GeForce GTX 1050.
