Sky has launched Sky Mobile, its own mobile network as it looks to rival the likes of BT, Vodafone and Three.
Sky Mobile is using the O2 network as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), and the firm claims to solve the problem of wasted data by allowing customers to roll over unused data for three years, to be used whenever it's needed.
Another unique feature sees Sky Mobile allow customers to only pay for the data they use and to change how much data is in their plan each month.
Sky Mobile comes with three data plans: 1GB for £10 per month, 3GB for £15 per month and 5GB for £20 per month. Non-Sky TV customers can add on unlimited calls and texts for £10 per month, or choose to pay for calls and texts on a Pay As You Use basis, meaning you don’t pay for inclusive calls and texts you don’t need.
Existing Sky customers will get calls and texts thrown in for free, with Sky Mobile allowing for five SIMs to be registered per household, and will also bag Sky Go Extra at no extra cost.
Sky boasts that Sky TV customers that sign up to its mobile network will also be able to 'sync' their Sky box recordings to their mobile, a feature not available for customers on other networks.
Stephen van Rooyen, UK and Ireland Chief Executive, said: "We felt it was time to shake up the mobile market and give customers a completely new way to manage their mobile plan – something no one else is offering.
"We've designed it based on what people told us they want – it's easy, flexible and transparent and it puts the customer in control. With £2bn being wasted each year on unused data in the UK, Sky Mobile customers will only pay for what they use."

The network will launch its SIM-only contracts in mid-December, with a full launch scheduled for early-2017. Those interested can sign-up over on the Sky Mobile website.
