EDF Energy, part of the EDF Group, is looking for a new chief information officer (CIO) who will be responsible for all matters relating to IT management and IT security at the company.
The current CIO is Gilles Chauveau, who has been in the role since July 2012, according to LinkedIn. The new CIO will have an IT budget of £170m, of which £100m will be under direct management. They will have about 170 employees and work across multiple sites in the UK.
The role will involve providing data and technology vision and direction aligned with an over-arching business strategy, according to the job ad.
The new CIO will also have to plan, implement and monitor the integration of new technologies and a comprehensive enterprise security and IT risk management programme.
He or she will facilitate cyber security governance and ensure its compliance with nuclear regulation, and manage IT and cyber security incidents to protect corporate IT assets including intellectual property, regulated data and reputation.
"[A] recent increase in cyber threats requires a measured but robust response to mitigate this risk. This role has responsibility for developing that risk mitigation strategy and recommending it to the executive team," the job ad reads.
The successful candidate will have to provide a single point of coordination and oversight for all digital initiatives and transformation projects. They will provide shared IT services, on-premise infrastructure services, digital online services and end-user services to enable mobility.
EDF Energy has embarked on an ambitious programme to reduce its IT costs while improving services. The company said that it will do this via an in-depth transformation of the IT operating model, outsourcing IT to external providers and using digital and cloud services.
The person tasked with managing this programme will need an in-depth knowledge of IT, substantial IT experience in a large IT function, and strong relationship-building, influencing and people management skills.
EDF Energy is looking for someone with strategic planning skills combined with the ability to implement these plans. The firm wants a CIO with strong commercial knowledge of complex business and IT operations, someone experienced at defining and delivery strategy in a group environment and a CIO with commercial experience and negotiating skills in complex multi-vendor environment.
A salary for the EDF Energy CIO job has not been given. Applications close on 7 April.
