The company also used the event to showcase real-world IoT case studies in sectors such as healthcare and smart cities, and announced updates that better integrate many of the firm's cloud-based business applications.
However, Microsoft customers also saw the downside of cloud-based services this week, when many were unable to access their Office 365 email owing to an outage.
