Toshiba has unveiled two additions to its Satellite Pro range of laptops aimed at small to medium-size businesses (SMBs), comprising one line designed to offer performance and productivity and an entry-level line offering affordable value for businesses.
Set to be available in the UK before the end of September, the Satellite Pro A50-C and Satellite Pro R50-C join Toshiba's range of laptops aimed at smaller businesses, as opposed to the Tecra brand aimed at larger corporate customers. However, the two new lines follow on from last year's Satellite Pro R50-B, which was created to bring some of the higher-end features to the SMB portfolio.
The Satellite Pro A50-C is designed for performance and peace of mind, and comes with Toshiba's Reliability Guarantee under which the firm will repair the laptop for free and refund the price if it fails within a year of purchase.
The A50-C features Intel processors up to the 5th Generation Core i7 Broadwell chips, with up to 16GB of DDR3L memory and storage options up to a 256GB SSD or 1TB hard disk.
Customers can also choose an HD (1366x768) or Full HD (1920x1080) non-reflective 15.6in display, and a discrete Nvidia GeForce 930M graphics accelerator with its own 2GB of memory for higher graphics performance.
Meanwhile, the Satellite Pro R50-C has been developed as an essential business computer for everyday tasks, Toshiba said. It is based on processors up to the 5th Generation Core i3, and likewise boasts up to 16GB of DDR3L memory but only a 1TB hard drive and 1366x768 15.6in display.
Both models feature 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth, and include an HDMI port, two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports and an SD Card slot among the connectivity options.
Both Satellite Pro models are unusual these days in offering the option of a Super-multi DVD drive, and have a claimed battery life of up to eight hours. Both have a base weight of 2kg.
Toshiba said that the new systems will ship with Windows 10 Home installed by default, but Windows 10 Pro or Windows 7 Pro are available as options.
The starting price for the Satellite Pro A50-C is £539.99, while the Satellite Pro R50-C is priced from £379.99.
