Network management services firm Infoblox has announced a version of its DDI platform for configuring and controlling networks that runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS), enabling Infoblox customers to extend their network to include resources running on Amazon's public cloud.
Available immediately, Infoblox DDI for AWS extends the firm's system for integrated and centrally controlled DNS, DHCP and IP address management for enterprise-grade network services and security onto the AWS Cloud.
This gives the IT administrator visibility and control over the virtual network infrastructure running in Amazon's public cloud, using the same platform they use to manage on-premise infrastructure.
Infoblox said that its enterprise customers are moving to next-generation IT architectures combining traditional networks with cloud-based resources, and the firm is helping with these shifts by supporting a unified, consistent architecture across platforms.
In particular, customers are struggling with implementing a consistent network infrastructure across the whole estate, especially between on-site network and infrastructure on public clouds like AWS.
"Our customers tell us they want a single management solution across all of their network operations, whether traditional on-premise, cloud or hybrid environments," said Infoblox executive vice president for products Scott Fulton.
"Infoblox DDI for AWS delivers that unified control, allowing cloud architects to more effectively plan for their requirements, while IT operations and network teams have comprehensive visibility and control of cloud resources."
To address this, Infoblox DDI for AWS can run in Amazon EC2 or Amazon's Virtual Private Cloud, managing DNS records and IP addresses while integrating seamlessly with the customer's existing Infoblox infrastructure.
This eliminates the need for manual provisioning of DNS records, reducing provisioning times for network resources from hours or days to just minutes.
It also ensures a uniform policy for DNS naming conventions and IP address assignments across AWS and on-premise environments, through a single, unified solution.
The new release is the first cloud-focused product from Infoblox and also supports DNS firewall security to help combat malware, the firm said.
Infoblox DDI for AWS is available now from Infoblox sales representatives and channel partners. Prices for the product have not been disclosed.
