In-memory analytics database provider Exasol has announced that its services can be now accessed through Microsoft’s Azure cloud services, potentially opening up its services to a new raft of businesses in numerous industries.
Azure is the second cloud service that Exasol is using, having announced in March that its SQL EXASolution in-memory service would be offered on BigStep’s bare-metal cloud servers.
However, the move to Azure will give access to its tools to a far wider set of organisations that may well have never considered using big data in-memory database analytics tools.
Exasol chief marketing officer Sean Jackson told V3 that the firm believes there is huge pent-up demand for access to big data analytics tools in this way and using Azure means it can now reach this audience.
“Azure is huge so it gives us access to a wider audience so we can say to people who are already using the cloud for their HR, their ERP and CRM, that they do big data analytics in the cloud,” he said.
“It removes the hassle and complexity of having to go through all the hoops that a traditional deployment has and they can just get going on a pay-as-you-go basis as and when you need.”
Jackson also said the firm was looking at future deployments in other cloud services, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and IBM's SoftLayer offering, in order to ensure it can meet the needs of as many firms as possible.
Big data is being touted as a boon for many industries, such as security, as the ability to glean insight from reams of digital information becomes a realistic possibility for more and more businesses.
