HP held its annual Discover user event in Las Vegas last week, and made a raft of announcements around flash in the data centre and the Helion cloud, as well as giving a firm date of 1 November for the company's split into two separate businesses.
Film studios DreamWorks, 20th Century Fox and Lightstorm Entertainment were also on hand to announce their use of various HP tools, and to bring a bit of Hollywood glitz to proceedings.
Microsoft finally confirmed the release date for the next version of its Windows operating system. Windows 10 will land on 29 July.
HP and analyst firm IDC took opposing stances on whether Windows 10 will give the PC market a boost, but many current Windows users were annoyed and confused about the arrival of a Windows 10 update icon on their screens, which had the look of a virus alert.
