A software problem at Twitter prevented Android users from posting on the site this weekend, but has since been repaired.
According to reports online, and from users, Android users were either kicked out of the application or found themselves unable to log in.
The problem persisted for some time, and saw Twitter take to Twitter to explain. The issue was flagged up on sunday with a note on its homepages.
"Something is technically wrong," it said. "Thanks for noticing-we're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon."
Various updates and comments have come from the firm since then, including the news that services have been restored. While access to the service was offline users were concerned that they might have individual problems with their accounts, for example, that they had lost control of their password. The social network looked to soothe these concerns.
"We're working on resolving issues some users are having signing in on some platforms," said Twitter in acknowledgement some eight hours ago.
Three hours later the firm returned to Twitter, saying that the issue has been ‘resolved'. "The issue that prevented some users from signing in to Twitter has been resolved," it explained. "We apologize for the inconvenience."
However, the reason for the issue is not mentioned, and reports have suggested that a time or date bug - some Twitter services apparently thought that it was 2015 already - is to blame.
"I MITMed Twitter for Android's login to see why it was failing," posted one social network user. "The Twitter servers think it's 2015. Amazing,". That poster, an account holder called Ninji, has uploaded an image as proof.
