Silent Circle has confirmed it will release a second Blackphone smartphone alongside a tablet aimed at protecting user data.
Callas declined to give specific sales figures, but said that the Blackphone's success has "gone well beyond our expectations, and we're, of course, very pleased about this".
With that success in mind, Callas was happy to confirm that Silent Circle has plans to release another smartphone in the future, alongside a privacy-focused Blackphone tablet.
"Blackphone won't be our last smartphone, and I can say that we're planning to release a tablet in the future," Callas said, adding that he was unable to disclose exact details just yet, nor say when it will arrive.
However, the Blackphone tablet is expected to come with the same onslaught of security features as its smartphone predecessor, including 'Silent Communications' apps enabling encrypted calls and text messages, WiFi protection, anonymous web browsing and VPN access, and private cloud storage.
These features exceed the security tools offered by iOS 8 and Google's Android L operating system, Callas was keen to point out, despite both the Apple and Android mobile platforms shipping with encryption switched on by default.
"There are a lot of security features we put in Blackphone, such as WiFi management tools, that you just won't find elsewhere," Callas said.
"Our software updates make us more secure too, as 80 percent of Android devices are not updated to software secure enough to protect them.
"A lot of other OEMs seem to think that, once somebody has bought a phone and the transaction is complete, that's it."
