Twitter is reportedly testing a brand new design for users' profiles less than a month after its most recent layout refresh. The new user profiles bear a resemblance to the Facebook profile page design and also appear to take inspiration from the media-rich Pinterest layout.
The design, which was discovered by Mashable, has content displayed on "cards" of various sizes, similar to the way Facebook displays stories and the way in which Google's Now personal assistant software displays information.
The redesign seems to focus on the variety of content posted on Twitter, including photos, links and retweets.
It includes a larger profile picture than Twitter's current design, and a bigger, longer header image than is currently used. Mashable said the new design recommends that users choose a header image with resolution of at least 1500x1500.
V3 contacted Twitter for further information about the design, but the firm instead referred to its previous blog post on its policy of experimenting with new features for a small number of users.
Twitter has seen a decline in the rate at which users are signing up. But last week the firm's chief executive Dick Costolo reassured investors by saying that the company will make user interface enhancements to retain users and increase the number of interactions they make.
In its most recent financial results, the firm posted a $511m loss but beat analysts' earnings expectations, with the bulk of its losses coming from a stock-related expense.
Its advertising revenue continues to grow, along with the number of users on its mobile platform. The firm has 241 million active users, with 184 million of those accessing the site on mobile devices.
