Mozilla has pushed out the latest version of its browser for Android tablets and smartphones, adding a Guest Browsing mode that keeps your web data confidential when someone else uses your mobile device.
Available to download now, Firefox 25 for Android adds three main features: Guest Browsing, mobile wallpaper support, and an expanded range of languages covering Ukrainian, Irish and Romanian.
Guest Browsing enables a user to share their device with a friend, without having to worry about them seeing personal data such as browsing history, bookmarks, passwords, form data or open tabs, according to Mozilla.
Once Guest Browsing is enabled, Firefox restarts with a fresh profile and deletes that guest's information when the guest session is closed.
This version also allows Android users to customise their smartphone or tablet with photos. The user can set an image as their device's wallpaper or add a photo to a contact from the currently displayed webpage.
Firefox 25 for Android now includes mixed content blocking. This protects users from attacks using HTTP content within an HTTPS page, which might be read or modified by attackers even though the main page is served over HTTPS. This debuted in the desktop Firefox 23 release.
Firefox for Android is now available in 27 languages worldwide, Mozilla said.
The update comes in the same week Mozilla confirmed it has no intention of cutting off its support for Firefox on the ageing Windows XP operating system despite the looming cut-off deadline for the platform itself from Microsoft.
