O2 has released more details on its pricing for 4G services as it seeks to do battle with EE and Vodafone.
The firm announced recently that it would switch on services in London, Bradford and Leeds on 29 August, the same day that Vodafone has since announced it will go live, as both firms rush to catch up with market leader EE.
At launch O2 announced that pricing would be £26 a month, but did not specify what this would include. However, it has now said this SIM-only deal will offer 1GB of data, as already unearthed by V3, while 3GB will cost £31. For 5GB it is £36 a month. Bolt-ons for 500MB of data at £6 and 1GB for £10 will also be available.
For the first two months of the launch the 3GB tariff will offer 5GB of data and the 5GB service will offer 8GB of data. This offer expires on 31 October. All these deals come with unlimited texts and calls.
For small business customers, O2 also has a range of deals available, starting from the lower price of £21.67 a month for 1GB of data on a 12-month SIM-only contract.
Other deals include 3GB for £25.84 a month and 5GB for £30 a month. Both these deals will offer 5GB and 8GB of data respectively for the first two months, similar to the consumer offers.
The firm has also signed a number of deals with music, sports and games firms to offer additional access to content on the go, similar to Vodafone, which announced deals with Spotify and Sky Sports for access to content to entice customers.
Both firms have a long way to go to catch EE in the market, though, which already has 687,000 customers on its 4G networks, around 70 percent of which are iPhone 5 users, a device that will not work on O2's or Vodafone’s 4G networks.
