Brocade has added a 24-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) module to MLXe Series core routers.
The new module offers users the ability to scale up to 768 ports of 10 GbE in one chassis. Brocade says the module is aimed at large scale service providers who need to handle heavy data traffic demands.
"Network operators are challenged to scale their networks and manage increasing complexity; with more routers, more subnets and massive dynamic flows," said vice president of Service Provider and Application Delivery Products at Brocade Ken Cheng.
"The Brocade MLXe Core Router with the new 24-port 10 GbE module and industry leading SDN technology will enable them to significantly scale their core networks to do more while greatly reducing network complexity and cost."
Users working with the new module will be offered advanced layer 3 switching capabilities like full-feature support for access controls and a 64-port Link Aggregation (LAG) capacity for routing.
The latest module is for built for large capacity datacentre core and service provider networks. Brocade's new module will allow customers to scale-up their datacentre without the need for a large upgrade to servers.
Along with the new module, Brocade also introduced improvements to its ADX Application Delivery Switch software. Brocade says the 12.5 software release for the switch will speed up cloud based application deployment for servers.
The supercharged MLXe core router module and the new software based switch upgrade are available starting now.
Both new items were announced at Brocade's annual Technology and Analyst Day. The company's VDX 8770 datacentre switch was also announced at the conference.
