HP has added new solutions to its Converged Cloud portfolio with support for VMWare's latest virtualised datacentre tools.
By integrating VMware's vCloud 5.1 with its Converged Cloud platform, HP is looking to reduce the complexity of public and private cloud integration for enterprise, simplify security and compliance controls, and add strategically back-upped data protection in the cloud.
"As organisations move from a virtualised environment to a private or hybrid cloud, they may face significant challenges with security, performance and the management of multiple, heterogeneous computing models," said HP Enterprise Group senior vice president Stephen DeWitt in a statement.
"Extending HP Converged Cloud with comprehensive, integrated solutions for VMware vCloud Suite 5.1 enables clients to embrace secure cloud computing with less risk and greater choice."
As part of the new solutions, HP's latest Converged Cloud portfolio now offers HP CloudSystem optimisation for vCloud 5.1. The added feature allows for companies to quickly and easily deploy and manage cloud deployments using VMware's latest 5.1 vCloud, it claimed.
In other news, HP also introduced its Data Protector feature for the vCloud. Data Protector allows for cloud users to strategically back-up data using policy-based protection.
Customers can use Data Protector to protect and find data based on concepts found in the information stored in the cloud.
"Cloud organisations really need policy-based backups," HP manager for cloud solutions and infrastructure Frances Guida told V3.
"HP's Data Protector product is about policy integrating. It applies those integrations for searches [in the cloud]."
Another new feature is the added tools used to simplify security compliance. The new PCI Compliance Security Stack can be integrated with the Converged Cloud portfolio to simplify the compliance of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS).
PCI-DSS is a standard for retailers that requires a company to secure payment account information by either creating a specialised firewall or completing a web software code review for all systems that come in contact with payment information.
HP's PCI Compliance Security Stack is pre-certified by PCI audit service firm Coalfire Systems and offers PCI-DSS verification across cloud architectures. The Security Stack offers tools to meet PCI-DSS standards for unified use across different clouds.
The PCI Compliance Security Stack is currently available across all of HP's cloud options. HP's expanded Cloud Convergence solution will be available by the end of this year.
