HP has updated its education platform designed to simplify the process of training end users on new applications.
The company said that the latest version of its Adoption Readiness Tool would allow administrators to use both pre-built and customised tutorials to help train users on many of its enterprise software platforms.
Susan Merriman, worldwide lead of emerging education technologies for HP software, told V3 that the aim of the tool is to reduce the spike in training and support costs which often accompany the rollout of new applications and platforms.
"We know that 80 per cent of IT managers believe effective training for users is critical to the success of a project," Merriman said.
"We wanted to provide something that would be easy and cost effective for that."
The platform will also allow administrators to remove the need for classroom-style training sessions by providing presentations and exercises which users can access on their own systems and time.
In addition to providing hands-on training, the system is more flexible and able to accommodate new employees and those who begin using an application after the roll-out.
"In traditional formats, a lot of focus has been paid to this one go-live event," Merriman explained.
"But then people forget, people change roles, new people come in and there's not an ongoing solution available to them."
The pre-built materials can also be customised with a company's own interfaces, controls and policies in order to accurately reflect how an application will behave in each specific deployment.
By overhauling the way users are trained, HP believes that firms will be able to cut support costs and realise a return on the investment in new applications much sooner than previously possible.
