BERLIN: Samsung has announced a range of high-performance laptops aimed at helping business users maximise productivity on the move.
The Samsung Series-7 Chronos laptops come with 14in or 15.6in screens with a 300nit display featuring SuperBright anti-reflective HD LED technology and a resolution of 1,600x900.
The laptops ship with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, and are powered by an Intel Core i7 quad-core 2.2GHz processor with 8GB of DDR3 RAM. They also feature ExpressCache technology, which boosts performance by providing extra flash memory to the motherboard.
Samsung claims that ExpressCache allows the Chronos laptops to perform tasks such as web browsing twice as fast as before.
The Series-7 models come with a generous 750GB hard drive, a SuperLayer Multi DVD drive and an AMD Radeon HD6750M graphics card to cater to the multimedia needs of power users.
Connectivity comes in the form of two USB 3.0 ports, a single USB 2.0 port, HDMI connection, four-in-one card reader and the usual Ethernet and audio jacks.
The 14in model weighs 2.17kg and the 15in model 2.31kg, both having a thickness of 23.9mm.
Samsung claims that the Series-7 provides nine hours of use on a single charge, and that the Battery Life Plus technology keeps 80 per cent of the cell's original capacity, allowing up to 1,500 charging cycles, five times longer than standard laptops.
The Samsung Series-7 laptops are set to start shipping from 2 October starting at $999.
