HP is rolling out new software to help enterprises analyse, update and migrate their applications.
The Application Transformation line allows executives and administrators to better see how their software can be updated, and help them securely transition to new platforms, the firm said.
The line includes products and services which allow companies to map out software deployments and upgrade to new platforms and cloud computing services.
Paul Muller, vice president of strategic marketing for HP software products, told V3.co.uk that the aim of the seven products and services in Applications Transformation is to help enterprises modernise software to be more efficient and effective.
Muller noted a recent survey commissioned by HP which found that enterprises overwhelmingly consider innovation to be a top priority.
To help foster that innovation, HP believes that companies will need to reassess their software portfolios and adopt more efficient applications.
To help companies analyse their software, HP is offering the Application Portfolio Management tool which allows executives to analyse applications and plan out which areas require upgrades.
Muller said that the tool is essential in helping companies figure out which upgrades could best improve productivity.
"It is like a pair of x-ray goggles," he added. "Application Portfolio Management is software that discovers those solutions."
Applications Transformation also helps enterprises securely migrate to new platforms. Muller acknowledged that many firms can be hesitant about moving to platforms such as cloud computing.
On the security front, HP is offering the Fortify 360 and Application Security Center 9 releases. The tools allow applications to be scanned during development and production to eliminate vulnerabilities before new software and services are launched.
"What we have found is that the application itself is the highest priority target for hackers to enter or penetrate an organisation," Muller said. "The vulnerability itself is the first place a hacker goes to determine how to get in."
By adding the security testing tools to its analysis and migration software and services, HP believes it can help users assess and upgrade their enterprise software and services without risking security breaches in the process.
