Google has revealed the third version of its Commerce Search services for online retailers, promising to improve the quality and accuracy of search functions within retail and e-commerce sites.
The company said that the update adds a number of functions to the service as well as improved performance.
"Today we're building on the capabilities that have proved useful to our retail partners with the third-generation Google Commerce Search," write Google Commerce Search engineer Tianyu Wen in a posting to the official Google blog.
"With this new version, we hope to help create an even more interactive and engaging experience for shoppers and retailers."
Among the new features is support for instant search. Launched on the Google search engine last year, the instant search tool suggests possible results as the user types in a query.
Other features to be rolled out include tools which can recommend products, as well as display items available at retail locations near the user. The update will also allow retailers to create promotional items which will appear alongside site search results.
Google Commerce Search is available on an annual subscription plan. Pricing varies by number of items in a site's catalogue.
