Netscape Communications and Intraware have announced that companies who have previously purchased Netscape Communicator will be entitled to a free license for the Intraware SubscribNet service. The move follows Thursday's announcement that Netscape Communicator is now free.
Companies that feel cheated because they paid for software that has now become free, will receive a consolation prize: a one-year licence to SubscribNet, valued at $7.50 per seat. All companies who purchased the Navigator or Communicator client products since 1 October, 1997 can take advantage of the offer by filling in a form at Intraware's Web site (http://www.intraware.com/subscribnet/).
SubscribNet allows corporate customers to manage their Netscape client and server software licences. It includes electronic notification of new products, centralised certificates, version control and download tracking.
