Select Software has launched its Select Component Factory, a suite of tools that enables users to encapsulate their legacy data so they can re-use it in new applications.
The tools family comprises Select CASE Wrapper for encapsulating code generated by CASE tools, Database Wrapper for relational database data, Legacy Wrapper for Cobol code and Package Wrapper for packaged applications. They are due for a phased shipment in the third and fourth quarters.
Additional products include the Select Component Manager, which stores, retrieves and catalogues the encapsulated data or objects, and acts as the main interface for developers wanting to create or re-use objects. It sits on top of the Select Server repository and will be released in the second quarter.
Select Server is based on Softlab?s Enabler repository and provides version control, configuration mangement, private workspaces and process support for designs, models and code. It will be available in the third quarter.
