Unisys reversed last year?s third quarter loss wth net income of $14.2 million and revenues up nine per cent to $1.63 billion. However, delays in shipping its new generation of large servers mean it will not achieve full-year profit targets, warned chairman James Unruh.
Revenues increased in all three of the company?s main businesses, computer systems, maintenance and systems integration/services, but the last of these is the fastest growing, and now accounts for 63 per cent of total sales, compared to 50 per cent last year.
The new servers will ship next month, several months later than expected. Reversing last year?s $32.2 million loss was partly down to a seven per cent cut in costs, but analysts believe Unisys still has a long struggle to achieve sustained profitability at a level to please Wall Street.
