Newsnet, a subscriber online news service for 15 years, has been forced to close because of pressure from Internet competitors. The company said too many of its one-time customers were now getting information via Web sites and Internet news services. Newsnet attempted last year to move to an Internet-based service but failed to reclaim its business.
