Worldcom said on Monday that it had completed the takeover of Compuserve, announced last September. Worldcom will retain the network infrastructure and sell on the online division including the subscriber base to America Online.
As part of the deal, UUnet, Worldcom's ISP subsidiary, will provide network services to the whole of AOL for five years. UUnet also provides network services to AOL's main competitor, Microsoft's MSN.
