Acer has performed a rationalisation exercise across the world after its takeover of Texas Instruments? notebook division earlier this year.
In the UK, John Klinker, former head of the TI portable group, has become Acer?s UK director of sales in charge of both the channel and corporate sales.
Klinker claimed: ?The integration of TI?s portable division is now complete and I look forward to giving Toshiba, Dell, Compaq and IBM a run for their money.? Reporting to him will be ex-Sphinx Level 5 marketing head Anita McCabe and Darrell Bluck, business manager for the channel. All will report to Graham Jackson, managing director of Acer UK.
In the US, president and chief executive Ronald Chwang was deposed by the Acer Group?s chairman and CEO Stan Shih. He is replaced by Max Wu who becomes the president of Acer America.
Earlier this week, the Acer Corporation issued a profit warning on the notebook front. It has always had a close relationship with Texas Instruments but the joint development initiated by the two companies in its home territory, Taiwan, is not making as much money as the company would like.
