DOM (Document Object Model) Level One is close to being standardised by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and may well be voted upon next month. DOM working group chairwoman Lauren Wood, a product manager at SoftQuad, said the group is ready to finalise the platform and language neutral Web interface, which enables applications and scripts to dynamically access and update document content, structure and style. The working group plans a core DOM that is applicable to HTML, Cascading Style Sheets and Extensible Markup Language documents.
