Research from Datamonitor has found EDS, IBM, Anderson Consulting and Cap Gemini are best placed to succeed in the Europe's largest vertical IT market, the financial services industry. The Finance market, like the rest of the market, is characterised by consolidation and globalisation.
IT vendors wishing to succeed in this marketplace must be able to match their clients for global international reach and cross-sector expertise.
In first place, IBM has a 21% share of the European retail banking software; in second position is SNI, with 5.4%, closely followed by Anderson Consulting and Olsy (with 5.1% and 5% respectively). In 1997, EDS, IBM, Andersen Consulting and Cap Gemini occupied the leading roles with strong international business capabilities and an established presence in all three sectors of the financial services industry, Datamonitor claimed.
