Mplayer, one of the first online gaming services in the US, is preparing to do battle in Europe.
The company has teamed up with 3RD Elevation to launch its online gaming service in the UK, France, Germany and the Benelux countries. It has yet to reveal how many games will be hosted on its website, MpPlayer-Europe.com, but said there will be enough choice for everyone when the site goes live this spring. The US site hosts about 80 games at any one time.
European gamers subscribing to the service, which is free in the US, will be able to play online games with any number of players.
The site will also feature an ecommerce area where game players can buy both hardware and software.
