Thin client hardware and software vendor Wyse Technology is expanding its UK coverage with the appointment of Avnet Applied Computing as its second UK distributor.
The relationship will give up to 200 resellers access to products and support for Wyse's range of client hardware and software. The two companies already work together in Germany and the Benelux region.
"We expect an organisation such as Avnet to give us access to between 100 and 200 resellers," said Stephen Yeo, marketing director for EMEA at Wyse.
"In our experience being successful in this market is not about adding volume but quality, and we hope to sign committed resellers through Avnet."
Avnet joins G-Tech as a Wyse distribution partner, and the vendor is not planning on increasing its distribution layer further to protect margins. "The distributors as well as the resellers have to make money," said Yeo.
Dave Morris, product manager for networking security and storage at Avnet, explained that the distributor wants to identify and penetrate new markets in partnership with resellers.
"We have sold some thin client products in the past but the Wyse products will increase our visibility and attract more [specialist] resellers," he said.
Avnet will offer distribution, support and lead generation to thin client resellers in the UK.
