Misappropriated visa fees at the Calcutta High Commission caused cash losses of £81,000, National Audit Office head Sir John Bourn has told parliament. Two locally-employed staff are alleged to have misappropriated the fees between 1996 and 1998. The loss represents 7% of all visa fees received during the period.
