France Telecom is to test Nortel's Succession Network, which the telecom giant claims will enable existing telephony systems to become packet based and carry multimedia services.
Succession Network will be tested at France Telecom's research and development centre, called CNET.
It includes a call server to send existing telephony services over a packet infrastructure, a multiservice gateway to connect the packet network to other traffic such as wireless and data, and the Passport 15000 ATM switch. These products are administered by the Sucession Network Manager suite.
