Attachmate is readying new versions of its HostView Server and HostPublishing System Web-to-host access offerings.
HostView Server 2.0 adds new security features via a licensing of Aventail's virtual private network software for pinpoint access controls and support for several authentication and encryption methods, officials said. Attachmate also added a new management console to HostView Server that allows host Viewer and printer sessions to be centrally configured.
Attachmate's enhanced Host-Publishing System Release 2.2 adds support for Active Server Pages, allowing Web or corporate developers to integrate IBM mainframe or AS/400 data into HTML browser-based applications. For Visual Basic developers, an enhanced host translator control converts all Visual Basic forms into HTML. HostView Server 2.0, due in April, is $1,995 (#1,187) per server and $65 (#39) per client. HostPublishing System 2.2, also due in April, costs $25,000 (#14,880) for a server supporting up to 250 concurrent sessions or $15,000 (#8,928) for 100 concurrent sessions.
