The giant Japanese Hitachi Corporation said today it will introduce the sub-notebook market, so pitching it against companies like Toshiba, Compaq and IBM. The company will introduce slimline notebooks using 8.4-inch TFT screens. The machines will use Tillamook chips, thus giving a slim form factor, but prices will possibly exceed demand, starting at $3,500.
The company gave no clue as to how the machines will be distributed through its worldwide chain of contacts.
