Next month NCR UK is expected to roll out a new package for the channel, focused on high availability computing. Under the Certified Operating Environment programme, distributors and resellers will be able to offer NCR?s Worldmark servers running Windows and NCR?s Lifekeeper fault tolerant middleware.
The product was initially launched to the company?s US resellers at Comdex as part of its Partners in Profit programme. Scott Munro, chief executive of Western Micro, a US NCR distributor, said: ?NCR?s high availability offering is of great interest to us and our Vars, especially since it is targeted to the fast-growing NT space.?
The Certified Operating Environment includes the ability for resellers to create recovery software scripts for a customer?s specific application. These scripts will then work with NCR?s Lifekeeper to protect from system failure.
Resellers will also be able to offer customers an application recovery service for packages including Microsoft Exchange, Lan Manager, SQL Server and Lotus Notes, as well as popular databases.
Chip Dailey, assistant vice president of NCR?s channel marketing group, said: ?Our goal in the channel is to provide our partners with differentiated, high availability solutions to support the needs of their customers.?
