European telco, Esprit Telecom, has been granted two different operatorlicences from the German Ministry of Post and Telecommunication. One licence allows Esprit is to build and operate infrastructure for telecomms services, plus build transmission lines and a microwave network. The other licence permits Esprit to provide public telephony services from 1 January 1998 through full interconnection with Deutsche Telekom.
