The battle of Lara Crofts past and present failed to kick off last night as deposed model Nell McAndrew made the Tomb Raider film premiere as Big Brother loser Bubble's date.
McAndrew, squeezed into a £2000 rubber dress, was one of six former Lara Crofts banned by the Tomb Raider movie's star Angelina Jolie. The TV game show loser's regular girlfriend was at work, he explained.
Some 4000 fans were more interested in Jolie's arrival with husband Billy Bob Thornton and veteran film star father Jon Voight. Jolie spent 20 minutes talking to fans before the premiere.
She told the BBC that she had been worried about how audiences would react to a US actress playing the English character but had been reassured by the turnout.
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider opens on 6 July.
