Twenty four per cent of Web users are shopping online, according to a survey released this week.
Online market research company @plan questioned 40,000 Internet users from its consumer database.
The areas with the most spectacular online expansion were airline ticket reservations, up 301 per cent over nine months, and stocks and mutual funds, up 291 per cent over the same period.
The survey also shows a 111 per cent increase in online shopping for computer hardware and 105 per cent for car rental.
@plan said the figures show that the Web is embracing a more mainstream audience
