Cisco will announce phase 4 of its voice and data strategy at Networld+ Interop this week. The network giant plans to closely integrate the products it has acquired from Selsius - those being a programmable PBX and IP handset with call control software - into its strategy for IP telephony. To date, Cisco has only played in the transport area with voice over IP but it plans to connect right into the desktop with the aid of the Selsius products.
Cisco has also launched the 1720 VPN access router. Aimed at small- and medium-sized businesses or branch offices of larger organisations, it offers VPN capabilities via Cisco IOS software.
