UK enterprise security company, Security Dynamics has teamed up with CheckPoint Software Technologies to launch ViPN, a personal VPN solution that combines authentication and encryption in one product. Security Dynamics supplies SecurID two-factor authentification while CheckPoint brings Firewall-1 version 3.0 server software with encryption as well as SecuRemote 3.0 client encryption software. This combination, according to company officials, will allow remote users to transfer electronic mail and sensitive corporate data, through their Internet connections without fear of having that data compromised by hackers or session hijackers. John Botting, general manager at Security Dynamics assures PC Week readers that "remote users are strongly authenticated" and that "only the intended recipient is receiving - and replying to - that information". Any complaints, just ask for John. www.securitydynamics.com.
