As revealed here some months ago, IBM is to rebrand the 3Com-USR Palm Pilot handheld computer.
The announcement will be made next Monday. The IBM PC Company will sell the device, which it will call Workpad, through its channel.
Pricing is likely to be identical to that of the Palm Pilot, which uses its own interface and holds the leading market share in this type of market in the US.
So far, IBM has not committed itself publicly on whether it will produce a device running Microsoft's Windows CE handheld operating system, but sources at the company suggest this is on the cards too.
* Sharp is expected to announce a Windows CE 2.0 device on Monday.
