A 27-year veteran of Andersen Consulting has been named as the firm's new managing partner and CEO. Joe Forehand, who has been a partner for 17 years, succeeds George Shaheen who left in September to join the online grocer Webvan. Forehand - who takes the helm just months before arbitration is expected to begin that will finalise the divorce of Andersen Consulting from Arthur Andersen - was head of Consulting's $2bn (£1.25bn) global communications and hi-tech market unit, which accounted for around a quarter of the firm's overall revenues. 'This is a pivotal time in the history of Andersen Consulting, and I am pleased and privileged to be a part of it,' he said. 'In the weeks to come, I want to focus on taking Andersen Consulting to its next level of marketplace leadership. This includes developing a bold, new growth strategy, creating an environment that fosters an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, and strengthening our commitment to our clients and our people.' Under the guidance of Colombian lawyer, Guillermo Gamba, the arbitration between Arthur Andersen and Andersen Consulting is expected to begin early next year with a settlement likely before Easter.
