Alanis Morissette's upcoming album, MTV Unplugged, could have been called 'The Net' considering the saturation of online promotion planned for its release.
Customdisc.com has already teamed up with Tower Records to enable fans to create their own short video collection of Morissette on the internet.
Anyone who purchases the new album at Tower Records online or in one of its high steet stores will be able to pay USD5.99 to build personalised Quicktime CD videos at Customdisc's website.
Fans will be able to choose four of eight videos, including clips from Morissette's hit album, Jagged Little Pill. Once choices are entered, which can include artwork and photos, Customdisc will burn a CD and mail it out in 24 hours.
At the same time, Liquid Audio has partnered with Morissette's record label Maverick to distribute tracks from the album online
