Olivetti and US telecommunications company Bell Atlantic are to meet on Monday to decide whether their joint venture telecomms company, Infostrada, will ally with France Telecom.
Olivetti, which owns two-thirds of Infostrada, wants to expand the alliance to increase its potential market and compete with the growing number of international telecommunications alliances.
However Bell Atlantic, which owns the remaining third, is believed to be reluctant to dilute its access into the European market with another partner. It may be forced to sell its share as interest from France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom grows.
