The Web Standards Project (WSP) has criticised Microsoft's release of Internet Explorer 5.0, saying that it falls short of fully supporting agreed industry standards. "We wish Microsoft had delayed Internet Explorer 5.0's release to focus on getting standards support right," said WSP project leader George Olsen. Standard tests that IE 5.0 fail include CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) 1.0, DOM (Document Object Model) 1.0, XML (Extensible Mark-up Language) 1.0 and HTML 4.0.
