UK accountancy software provider Dataflow has been warned it faces tough competition after it revealed a partnership with manufacturing systems developer NewTech. The deal integrates NewTech's Target! software with Dataflow's accounting system to provide a distribution, manufacturing and accounting system for Windows. It is aimed at small to medium-sized businesses that have traditionally used disparate systems. But the companies were warned by rival supplier Epicor that they face competition from a raft of companies, including Epicor itself. 'There are up to 15 or 20 other companies which can offer these types of package. This includes ourselves and we will be updating our Vantage package in the new year to bring it fully in line with Windows,' said Epicor director Steve Long. However, NewTech believes it has come up with a winning formula. Mike Spencer, partner and founder of NewTech, said: 'It became clear that our customers wanted, and would benefit from, tightly integrated accounts functionality with their Target! systems. 'As we did not have the specialist skills, experience or the time to develop our own top-quality Windows accounting solution, we looked around for a partner,' Spencer added. It has been designed to make integration with other third-party products easy. Dariush Mogtader, managing director of Dataflow, said: 'This strategy allows us to deliver best-of-breed solutions and opens up new market areas for Dataflow. In addition to NewTech's manufacturing and logistics software, dataflow-32 is being integrated to other leading packages including payroll, contract management, fixed assets and reporting.' Dataflow added the software was suited to organisations needing to control product design, manage shipment and repair products and materials.
