But this explosion will be to the detriment of the traditional server market, which will be cannibalised as both enterprises and SMEs rush to buy appliance servers. Market analyst IDC expects this year to be pivotal for the market.

Unbranded PCs have become almost as widely accepted by customers as branded desktops, research by CRN US has revealed. In total, 30 per cent of customers prefer white boxes while 40 per cent insist on buying branded PCs.
